  • Forensic Focus prize awarded at Cranfield University
    An annual award sponsored by Forensic Focus available to those studying at the Centre for Forensic Computing at Cranfield University was recently awarded for the first time. The prize, consisting of a trophy and cash sum, is awarded to the student whose project makes the best contribution to the digital forensics community as part of Cranfield's MSc in Forensic Computing course. The award was presented at Cranfield's graduation ceremony on the 16th July 2010 to Mark McConnell from the Forensic Science Service Northern Ireland. Mark completed the final year of his MSc with a thesis titled "Forensic Extraction of SMS Messages from Embedded Mobile Phone Memory". The award takes its place amongst other annual prizes sponsored by NTAC and SOCA. Further information on the award will be published at the Forensic Focus site next month.




  • PFIC 2010 registration now open
    Paraben has announced that full conference registration, including labs, is open for PFIC 2010, November 7-10 in Park City, Utah. PFIC 2010 will feature new lab tracks, an added a vendor showcase room for live demonstrations, and more opportunities for examiners of all levels to learn.   • Android support added to F-Response
    F-Response www.f-response.com has added support for the Android OS to its arsenal of forensic tools. This provides examiners with the possibility of examining embedded devices such as tablets, media players, and mobile phones that use this OS. More info here
